How the ASCII Converter works
ASCII (American Standard Code for Information Interchange) assigns a number from 0 to 127 to each English letter, digit, punctuation mark and control character. Uppercase A is 65, lowercase a is 97, the digit 0 is 48 and a space is 32.
Converting text to ASCII looks up each character's code; converting back maps each number to its character. Characters outside this 0 to 127 range, such as accented letters and emoji, aren't ASCII. Use the Unicode Converter for those, or the Number Base Converter to see the codes in binary or hex.
