How the Sentence Counter works
A sentence is counted each time text ends with a period, question mark or exclamation mark, and any final fragment without closing punctuation counts as one more. The average sentence length is the total word count divided by the number of sentences.
Abbreviations like "e.g." or "Dr." and decimal numbers can add extra sentence breaks, so treat the result as a close estimate. Readability guides often suggest averaging 15 to 20 words per sentence for web content.
