How the Torque Converter works
Torque is a turning force: force multiplied by the distance from the pivot. The converter goes through the newton-meter: 1 kN·m = 1,000 N·m, 1 lb·ft ≈ 1.3558 N·m, 1 lb·in = 1/12 lb·ft ≈ 0.1130 N·m, and 1 kgf·m = 9.80665 N·m.
