How the Temperature Converter works
Temperature scales have different zero points, so conversions need an offset as well as a multiplier:
°F = °C × 9 ÷ 5 + 32°C = (°F − 32) × 5 ÷ 9K = °C + 273.15
Water freezes at 0 °C (32 °F, 273.15 K) and boils at 100 °C (212 °F, 373.15 K) at sea level. Kelvin starts at absolute zero, the coldest possible temperature, so negative Kelvin values are rejected.
Frequently asked questions
- Is this temperature converter free?
