How the Date Difference Calculator works
The exact day count is the difference between the two dates measured in whole days, which already accounts for leap years and months of different lengths. Weeks are that number divided by seven.
The years, months and days breakdown counts complete calendar years and months first and then the leftover days, giving a calendar-friendly approximation. By default the end date isn't counted, the same way you'd count nights in a hotel stay; enable the option to make the count inclusive.
